“Beauty is in all beings that love and are loved.”
― Diana Vreeland
With the current hype about collagen as the holy grail of anti-aging and skin health, I wanted to discuss the myriad of pathways that contribute to the health of our skin, as well as that indefinable “glow” that truly comes from within.
Before we cover the more physical level of beauty, lets talk about a scientific phenomena that explains the type of radiance that comes from the inside-out. Biophotons.
Biophotons are light particles that are generated within the body, and they can be measured as they emanate from the skin.
“In a recent study, eight volunteers were placed in a darkened room and asked to visualize a bright light. The participants were monitored with light detectors that picked up an aura of light particles coming from the right side of their brains. In a sense they were enhancing light.
What does this mean? We know that our cells emit light and that this light is constantly sending and receiving information. We also know that we have at least some ability to affect this light. If this is true, then we have access to the control centre of our minds and bodies. And if we have access and influence then we have the ability to change ourselves at the most fundamental level by enhancing our light.”1 (NB. These changes were later directly correlated with positive changes in health.)
Now we know, you literally radiate your light from within.. so skin tone and texture is secondary when it comes to beauty really.. remember that before you obsess over a blemish or a wrinkle again.
However, clear, radiant skin is also a sign of health from within, as the body will naturally prioritise the repair of internal tissues over external.. so really it’s a happy side effect of taking deep and loving care of yourself.
There are many biological pathways that contribute to the appearance of our skin; hormones, digestion and gut health, toxin load and liver health, antioxidant function, as well as collagen and elastin production.

Plants have a long history of use as spirit medicine. From extreme journeys of the soul, such as Ayuhuasca to commonplace rituals such as a soothing cup of chamomile tea.
With the recently increasing popularity of “botanical biohacking”, adaptogens, ancient tonic herbs, nootropics and anxiolytics long used by traditional medicine systems and natural health practitioners are making their way into the kitchens of increasing numbers of people, as their ability to significantly elevate the spirit becomes more widely known.
